Policies and Procedures 2026-2027

Please review Heather’s Dance Academy’s Policies and Procedures and let us know if you have any questions. You will then sign the Registration Form stating that you understand and will comply with our Policies and Procedures for the 2026-2027 Dance Season! 

Registration 

A legal guardian/parent must be present at the time of registration.
A Non-refundable fee of $35 per new student/ $30 returning students / $60 per family is required yearly at the time of registration. 

Attendance 

Regular attendance is imperative. Refunds will not be issued for any missed classes. Please be on time!  Tardiness will affect an entire class. Please arrive 10 minutes early for your scheduled lesson and begin properly warming up. Please make every effort to attend class unless your dancer is under the weather or an emergency arises. Heather’s Dance Academy is not responsible for providing aftercare outside of dance classes. 

Tuition
Tuition is due the FIRST lesson of each month. Tuition will be considered late after the 14th of each month and a $15 late fee will be added to your account.
We also accept Parent Portal Payments, Cash, and Debit/Credit cards ($4 Transaction Fee for all Credit/Debit).
Accounts more than 2 months in arrears will be frozen and the student will not be allowed to participate until the account is brought current.
If a class is missed, talk with your Instructor about a make-up lesson.
Months with 5 lessons will make up for Holidays when we do not attend class 

Refunds: All Payments made to Heather’s Dance Academy for Tuition, Recital Fees, or Registration Fees are non- refundable. Any over-payment will be credited to your studio account. 

 

Studio Rules 

Do not open the studio door if music is in progress! 

Students must bring their own, leak-proof, water bottle!
Be on time to pick up your dancer.
Please do not leave any children left unattended in the studio.
There will be no food or gum permitted in the dance studio
Dance shoes should not be worn outside of the building
Students should not arrive more than 10 minutes early for class and should be picked up promptly. Parents are not allowed to enter ongoing classes; this creates a distraction and startles younger dancers. Restroom is for students only. 

 

Etiquette 

Dancers are expected to respect their Instructor and fellow students and maintain proper behavior during class. Behavioral issues such as Bullying, being disruptive, using profanity, hitting/kicking, screaming to disrupt the lesson, etc. will result in a parent conference. Ongoing behavior issues will not be tolerated. The 3rd parent conference will result in the student being dismissed from Heather’s Dance Academy. 

Parents are expected set a good example for each dancer they come in contact with while at Heather’s Dance Academy. We encourage each other! We build each other up! Any issues or Concerns should be  brought to your instructor immediately.  Behavior that disrupts the daily function of Heather’s Dance Academy will not be tolerated and that Individual will be asked to leave the premises for the protection of Heather’s Dance Academy students and parents. 

 

Class Placement and Observation 

Students are placed in classes based on skill level first and then age and readiness level. 

Parents and visitors are not allowed in the studio during class times.
Parents are invited to watch on Observation Days which are held several times during the year and will be announced on your Monthly Newsletters.

Our Dance season will run from August 17, 2026 – May 1, 2027

September 7            Labor Day (No Classes held)
October 1              Christmas Parade Costume Fee Due (Optional)
October 13            No Classes
November 25-27        Thanksgiving Break 

December 15            Recital Fees Due
December 21 – January 1    Christmas Break (No Classes)

January 18, 2027        MLK Day (No classes)

March 22-26            Spring Break (No classes)

March 29, 2027        Easter Holiday (No classes)

May 1, 2027            Spring Recital (Doors open at 7:00 P.M./ Show begins at 7:30 P.M.)
*Students must attend rehearsal to participate in the Recital.

 

Recital Fees do not include Recital Tickets.  Recital Tickets will be purchased separately. Students who dance for 1 – 4 years will receive their trophy during the last class of the year. Students who dance for 5 years or more will receive their trophy on stage at the recital. 

 

What to wear: 

Students in Combination Classes: Leotard and Tights (Pink, Tan or Black), Pink Ballet shoes with elastics tied and tucked, Black Tap shoes (students ages 7 and under should have buckles, no tie laces). Form fitting Shorts/Leggings may be worn. Pointe Classes: Leotard and Tights must be worn. Ballet skirts, form fitting shorts/leggings may be worn. Pink Pointe shoes and Pink Ballet slippers. Hair must be worn in a bun or pulled back away from the face. Pointe shoes must be fitted and purchased from The Sock Basket. Pointe shoes must be approved by your instructor before elastics and ribbons are sewn on. All students must speak with your instructor before enrolling in Pointe. 

(Absolutely No street shoes or clothes are to be worn in any dance class)

Parental Responsibilities 

It is the responsibility of the parent or adult student to be aware of all studio events and Deadlines, such as Observer’s Days, Recital, Make-up classes and when items are due. The studio will post all such notices on the Bulletin board in our Lobby as well as sending Monthly Newsletters home via email. It is the parent’s responsibility to read each Newsletter and check our Bulletin board each week. It is the parent’s responsibility to inform the school of any address, telephone or email changes.
